Postdoctoral Research Associate – Machine Learning & Viral Bioinformatics
Designation: Postdoctoral Research Associate

Location: Los Alamos, New Mexico
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Biophysics, Structural Biology, Biochemistry, or Computational Chemistry or related field.
- Strong publication record in your domain of expertise.
- Open-source software contributions in the domain of scientific software or machine learning, and/or success in machine learning competitions (e.g., Kaggle).
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency with Python programming language and scientific Python.
- Experience using the scikit-learn library and other open-source Python machine learning libraries.
- Experience in machine learning feature importance techniques.
- Familiarity with software version control, continuous integration testing, and the pytest framework.
- Ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance.
Job Description:
You will collaborate with our multidisciplinary team to develop computational bioinformatics tools for identifying antiviral peptides. Key responsibilities include:
- Mastering modern machine learning techniques and applying them to viral bioinformatics.
- Conducting machine learning feature importance analysis to identify crucial viral genetic sequence elements.
- Collaborating with computational and experimental researchers to synthesize and evaluate antiviral peptide candidates.
- Engaging with theoretical and computational scientists to establish synergistic collaborations.
