Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Postdoctoral Applicants:
    • PhD in Atmospheric Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, or related fields.
    • Experience in aerosol chemistry (aerosol mass spectrometry, photochemistry, or multiphase chemistry).
    • Strong background in mechanistic studies, field campaigns, and online instrumentation like AMS.
    • Ability to conduct independent research and collaborate in an interdisciplinary team.
  • PhD Applicants:
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science/Engineering, or related fields.
    • Strong academic background and a keen interest in atmospheric chemistry and air pollution research.

Job Description:
The successful candidates will contribute to one or more of the following research projects:

  1. Investigating multiphase photosensitization chemistry and its role in secondary pollutant formation.
  2. Exploring the chemical composition, light absorption properties, and reactions of aerosols from biomass burning.
  3. Studying the photochemistry of mineral dust.
  4. Examining the sources, composition, and chemical reactivity of atmospheric particulates in the Middle East.

You will work with cutting-edge aerosol and air pollution instrumentation, including tools like Soot-particle Aerosol Mass Spectrometry (SP-AMS), Optical Photothermo Infrared Microscope (O-PTIR), Photon-Transfer Reaction Mass Spectrometry (PTR-MS), and Oxidative Flow Reactor (OFR). The role will also involve collaboration with KAUST’s Core Labs, utilizing advanced techniques like Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (EPR) and high-resolution mass spectrometry.
