    • Focus: Using AI and machine learning to decode membrane protein interaction archetypes and predict the effects of genetic variants.
    • Context: Projects involve analyzing large-scale affinity-purification mass spectrometry datasets from the RESOLUTE and REsolution consortia. Note: This position is based in Graz but requires regular travel to Vienna for meetings at CeMM.
  • Track 2: Metabolism, Mitochondrial Signalling, and Translational Control
    • Focus: Investigating how cells coordinate metabolic states, mitochondrial function, and nutrient availability with protein synthesis and adaptive stress responses.
    • Context: An experimental role involving molecular/cellular biology, CRISPR genetics, and omics-based profiling.

Eligibility & Qualifications

General Requirements:

  • A PhD in a relevant scientific field.
  • Driven, curious, rigorous, and collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to connect molecular details to broader biological questions.

Track-Specific Skills:

  • Track 1: Experience in computational structural biology, protein structure modeling (AlphaFold/multimer), statistics, data visualization, and bioinformatics.
  • Track 2: Experience in cell biology, biochemistry, mitochondrial biology, chemical biology, functional genomics, or proteomics/metabolomics. Familiarity with mammalian cell culture, CRISPR, and imaging is advantageous.

Job Description

Successful candidates will join an international, interdisciplinary environment. You will be responsible for conducting high-impact research, developing skills for future scientific leadership, and helping shape the founding phase of the Cori Institute. The position offers support for relocation to Graz and provides an opportunity to invent new tools and drugs to modulate and engineer metabolism.
