Postdoctoral/PhD Position – Structural Biology: An exciting opportunity is available for a Postdoctoral/PhD position in the structural biology of type IV pili machineries. This research project aims to unravel the dynamic assembly and disassembly mechanisms of type IV pili, filamentous helical protein structures present in various bacteria, including human pathogens. The project, hosted at the Pathogenesis of Vascular Infections Unit at Institut Pasteur (Paris, France), offers a unique interdisciplinary environment with a focus on biochemistry, microbiology, cell biology, biophysics, and animal models of infection.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- MSc or PhD in structural biology, biochemistry, or related disciplines
- Experience in protein purification and sample characterization
- Familiarity with cryo-EM and cryo-ET data acquisition/processing
- Basic programming skills (recommended)
- Comfortable with interdisciplinary science, including biophysics, microbiology, immunology, and engineering
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English
Job Description: The successful candidate will:
- Participate in innovative biochemical approaches to understand the function of protein nanomachines related to bacterial secretion systems
- Engage in protein purification, enzymatic assays, single particle Cryo-EM, and Cryo-Electron Tomography
- Collaborate within an interdisciplinary team, leveraging expertise in biochemistry, microbiology, and biophysics
- Utilize available core facilities, including state-of-the-art microscopes for CryoEM and CryoET
