Postdoc in France

Postdoctoral Position at NMR Center: Join the team of Prof. Sami Jannin at the Very High Fields NMR Center in Lyon, France, and work on an exciting project funded by the European Research Council. We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher with a background in Chemistry or Physics to contribute to the HypFlow project, focusing on replenishable hyperpolarization using rapid-cycle DNP. This project offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of NMR research in a world-leading magnetic resonance laboratory.

Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Area: Chemistry, Physics, NMR, DNP

Location: Lyon, France

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or Physics
  • Proficiency in instrumental or methodological development in pulsed EPR and/or DNP
  • Strong teamwork skills and a collaborative mindset

Job Description:

Postdoctoral Position at Very High Fields NMR Center, Lyon, France

The HypFlow project is dedicated to developing replenishable hyperpolarization through rapid-cycle DNP. This innovative approach involves polarizing samples in hyperpolarizing matrices, melting them, and flowing them to a benchtop NMR system within a closed loop for repeated experiments. The selected candidate will have a range of responsibilities, including:

  • Supervising the Bruker pulse EPR system and co-supervising PhD students
  • Participating in the modification of the existing probe for 1H NMR, with later inclusion of 13C CP
  • Implementing pulsed DNP sequences and conducting experiments with available hyperpolarizing matrices
  • Pushing the boundaries of DNP enhancements using new generations of hyperpolarizing matrices, including photoexcited triplet states and chiral-induced spin selection
  • Integrating the pulsed DNP system with a rapid melt and flow system

Facilities: The Center for Very High Field NMR in Lyon is a world-leading magnetic resonance laboratory affiliated with Lyon-1 University, the CNRS (French National Center for Scientific Research), and the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon. The center boasts state-of-the-art NMR spectrometers, including the world’s first 1 GHz spectrometer, and two advanced dissolution-DNP machines.

Contract: This position offers a flexible starting date and the potential for up to a 5-year extension. The package includes healthcare and other benefits, with the net income commensurate with experience.
