Postdoctoral Position at University of North Texas: Join the BioDiscovery Institute at the University of North Texas as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Plant Transcriptomics and Metabolomics. Work on groundbreaking research in plant production of fungal-derived medicines, conducting transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses to reconstitute complete metabolic pathways. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a collaborative team and contribute to innovative pharmaceutical production methods.
Designation: Postdoctoral Research Associate
Research Area: Plant Transcriptomics & Metabolomics
Location: BioDiscovery Institute, University of North Texas
Eligibility/Qualification: To be considered for this position, candidates should meet the following requirements:
- Hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field.
- Have a strong background in transcriptomics and metabolomics.
- Possess experience in untargeted metabolomic and transcriptomic analyses.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a research team.
Job Description:
Postdoctoral Position in Plant Transcriptomics & Metabolomics
The primary focus of this project is to reconstitute complete metabolic pathways for pharmaceutical compounds produced by fungi within the plant host Nicotiana benthamiana. This pioneering research aims to revolutionize pharmaceutical production by delivering valuable fungal products in plant seeds, eliminating the need for downstream processing. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will collaborate with a team of 4-5 members and conduct studies to assess metabolic flux, perturbations of other metabolic pathways, and potential toxic effects or internal defenses induced by foreign enzymes in plants.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing untargeted metabolomic and transcriptomic analyses on A. benthamiana leaves following the transient expression of fungal megasynthases.
- Assisting in training students and mentoring team members.
- Preparing manuscripts and presentations for research findings.
- Collaborating on a large, Keck Foundation-funded project for two additional years.
How to Apply: To apply for this position, please submit the following documents via the application website:
