Postdoctoral Position: Biodiversity: The Department of Coastal Systems (COS) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoc to investigate spatial and temporal patterns of European parasite biodiversity. This position is part of the larger EU-funded project IMPACT (Integrated Monitoring of PArasites in Changing EnvironmenTs) focusing on European fish parasite diversity. The postdoc will be based in Texel, Noord-Holland, Netherlands.

Location: Texel, Noord-Holland, Netherlands

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in biology, ecology, environmental science, numerical ecology, biogeography, macroecology, conservation, or related discipline.
  • Affinity for analyzing large datasets.
  • Good quantitative analysis skills.
  • Background in parasite and disease ecology is a plus.
  • Excellent English oral and writing skills.

Job Description:

Postdoctoral Position: “Spatial and Temporal Patterns of European Parasite Biodiversity”

The Postdoc will:

  • Assess European fish parasite diversity and identify knowledge gaps for future monitoring strategies.
  • Establish a European fish parasite community database and determine correlates of parasite community diversity.
  • Assess long-term trends in European fish parasite diversity and identify links to global change drivers.
  • Develop Red List Assessments for Helminth Parasites of European Fish.

The position will be based at NIOZ on Texel and involves collaboration with other project members in Spain and Norway.
