Postdoctoral Position: Cellular Proteostasis: The Laboratory of Cellular Proteostasis at the International Institute for Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw (IIMCB) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Postdoctoral Researcher to join the project focused on “Nuclear protein quality control in neurodegeneration”. This project aims to unravel the mechanisms governing mammalian nuclear protein quality control (PQC) with a primary focus on protein clearance pathways and its relevance in human diseases.

Research Area: Project entitled “Nuclear protein quality control in neurodegeneration” carried out as the Sonata project (2023/51/D/NZ3/01939) financed by the National Science Centre, Poland.

Location: International Institute for Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw (IIMCB), Warsaw

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Hold a PhD degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Medicine, or equivalent field. Candidates with degrees in other fields, including Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, will also be considered if they have relevant experience.
  • Fulfill the requirements of the competition (section 2.1.1).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • High motivation and proactive and collaborative attitude.
  • Previous experience in specific methods is desirable but not mandatory.

Job Description:
As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be responsible for:

  • Performing a CRISPR/Cas9-based high-throughput screen to find novel factors and pathways key for protein quality control maintenance and ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) in the mammalian nucleus.
  • Utilizing cell culture methods, including human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived neurons, biochemical and molecular biology methods, flow cytometry, and confocal microscopy.
  • Planning and conducting experiments, recording experiments in an electronic lab notebook, data analysis, and regular reporting of results.
