Postdoctoral Position – Dynamics: The Faculty of Biology, Microbiology Department at Freiburg University is offering a Postdoctoral position (100%, E13 TV-L; midwife) in the field of Dynamics of the assembly, disassembly, and molecular organization of the PI signaling machinery. The research will focus on signaling proteins of the PI superfamily and their role in sensing and decoding the metabolic state of the cell. The successful candidate will investigate the molecular mechanisms governing the assembly and disassembly dynamics of the PI-complexome machinery using advanced techniques of structural biology and protein biochemistry. This position is within the DFG-funded SFB1381 “Dynamic organization of cellular protein machineries.”
Designation: Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Research Area: Structural biology or biochemistry
Microbiology, Molecular Physiology of Prokaryotes
Location: University of Freiburg, Freiburg, Germany
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Excellent doctorate degree in structural biology or biochemistry.
- Strong background in single particle cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM).
- High motivation, dedication to research, experimental creativity, and self-organized working.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Experience in the field of PI signaling or related research is preferred.
Job Description:
Postdoctoral Position – Dynamics of Signaling Machinery in Microbiology
The Postdoctoral researcher will join the group of J. Prof. Dr. Khaled Selim and will conduct research on the assembly and disassembly dynamics of the PI signaling machinery. The project is funded for 4 years with the possibility of extension for another 4 years, subject to positive project evaluation. The research will be performed in close cooperation with the Max-Planck Institute of Biology. The position offers an opportunity to work in an international team and a well-equipped laboratory at the prestigious University of Freiburg. The university provides a first-class research environment with highly interactive groups and state-of-the-art equipment.
How to Apply: Interested candidates should submit their application, including a statement of interest (max. 1 page), CV with reference emails, publication list, scanned copy of the PhD degree, and a short summary of the PhD thesis (1-2 pages max) as a single PDF document to khaled.selim@tuebingen.mpg.de. Please reference the keyword “PI-Machinery – PostDoc. position” in the email subject line. Only complete applications will be considered.
Last Date for Apply: Application deadline: 15 June or as early as possible until the position is fulfilled.
