Postdoctoral Position – IBPS, Developmental Biology Laboratory, France

CEMEF Postdoctoral Fellowship in France- Apply by 31 October 2020

Postdoctoral Position – IBPS: Join an interdisciplinary research team at the Institut de Biologie Paris Seine (IBPS) to investigate the role of extracellular matrix (ECM)-mediated force propagation at tissue/tissue interfaces during morphogenesis. This postdoctoral position focuses on understanding how mechanical forces shape tissue development in zebrafish.

Designation: Postdoctoral Fellow

Research Area: Matrix Biomechanics and Tissue Morphogenesis

Location: Institut de Biologie Paris Seine (IBPS), Developmental Biology Laboratory

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. in cell/developmental biology or biophysics.
  • Strong interest in biomechanics of tissue morphogenesis and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Additional beneficial skills:
    • Experience with the zebrafish model.
    • Skills in molecular biology, cloning, and transgenesis.
    • Experience in live imaging, confocal microscopy, and image analysis.

Job Description:

Postdoctoral Position – Matrix Biomechanics and Tissue Morphogenesis

We are seeking an enthusiastic young researcher, preferably with a recently obtained Ph.D. or soon-to-be-obtained Ph.D., to join our interdisciplinary research team. The focus of this postdoctoral position is to investigate how the extracellular matrix (ECM) transmits mechanical forces between adjacent tissues during morphogenetic movements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Study the ECM-mediated mechanical interactions between the olfactory placode and eye tissues in zebrafish.
  • Utilize advanced imaging techniques to analyze ECM dynamics.
  • Develop new tools to measure and modify ECM mechanical properties.
  • Collaborate with biologists and physicists in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • Conduct research, publish findings, and contribute to project advancements.

Terms of Employment:

  • The position is available from March 2024.
  • Funded by the ANR MECAMATRIX grant for 24 months.
  • Full support will be provided to apply for further independent postdoctoral fellowships (EMBO, Marie Curie, FRM, and others).

How to Apply: Interested candidates should submit the following documents to marie.breau@sorbonne-universite.fr:

  • CV including a list of publications/preprints.
  • Cover letter explaining your interest in the position.
  • Contact details of two or more referees.

Last Date for Apply: The position will remain open until filled.

Join our collaborative research team and contribute to the understanding of tissue morphogenesis through matrix biomechanics!
