Postdoctoral Position in Atom-Opto-Mechanical Systems: The Hybrid Quantum Systems Laboratory at Chalmers University of Technology is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work on developing quantum technologies for sensing and fundamental physics tests. This is a highly collaborative and experimental research opportunity in a state-of-the-art facility.

Research Area: Atom-Opto-Mechanical Systems, Hybrid Quantum Systems

Location: Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, Nanotechnology, Photonics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Doctoral degree awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline (exceptions for parental leave, sick leave, or military service).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Teaching experience and potential in research and education are desirable.

  • Optics and photonics
  • Optomechanics and nanofabrication
  • Nanomechanics and cryogenics

Job Description:

  • Lead and conduct research in hybrid quantum systems.
  • Develop a system for generating macroscopic quantum states of motion by coupling a single atom in an optical tweezer to a mechanical oscillator.
  • Advance research in nanomechanics, optomechanics, and cavity quantum electrodynamics.
  • Collaborate with other researchers and mentor Ph.D. students.
  • Work independently and in teams, demonstrating creativity and problem-solving skills.
