Postdoc in Spain

Postdoctoral Position in Bimetallics for Catalytic Activation: The Institute for Chemical Research (IIQ), CSIC-University of Sevilla (Spain), is inviting applications for a postdoctoral position in the ERC Consolidator project “Low-Coordinate Bimetallics for the Catalytic Activation of Carbon Dioxide, Nitrous Oxide, and Ammonia” (BiMetal GAS). The successful candidate will work on the synthesis, characterization, and catalytic studies of novel bimetallic complexes for key transformations in organometallic chemistry.

Postdoctoral Position in Low-Coordinate Bimetallics for Catalytic Activation of CO₂, N₂O, and NH₃

Designation:

Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Area:

Organometallic Chemistry, Catalysis, and Coordination Chemistry

Location:

Institute for Chemical Research (IIQ), CSIC-University of Sevilla, Spain

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in Organometallic Chemistry or a related field.
  • Strong expertise in the synthesis, handling, and characterization of highly sensitive compounds.
  • Experience in catalysis and open-shell complexes will be considered an advantage.

Job Description:

The postdoctoral researcher will:

  • Develop highly polarized bimetallic complexes or transition metal-heavier tetrylene (Ge, Sn) compounds.
  • Design and synthesize ligands, primarily terphenyl and cavity-shaped phosphines.
  • Investigate unusual heterobimetallic systems with open-shell configurations for single-electron reactivity.
  • Conduct catalytic studies targeting COâ‚‚ reductive coupling to oxalate, NO-mediated C-H bond oxidation, and NH₃-based hydroamination of olefins.
  • Perform mechanistic investigations related to these transformations.
  • Collaborate with other researchers in the project to advance new methodologies in organometallic chemistry.

How to Apply:

Interested candidates should submit the following documents:

  • Motivation letter detailing research interests and relevant experience.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  • Contact information of two referees.

Applications should be sent via email to Prof. Jesús Campos (jesus.campos@iiq.csic.es). Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an online interview.
