Postdoctoral Position in Computational Biology & Metagenomics
Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Area:
The Environmental Microbiology group focuses on anaerobic microbiology on a global and microscale level. The group’s research encompasses the study of microorganisms that utilize ancient pathways to capture and convert greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane. Research efforts include utilizing a combination of metagenomics, classic microbiology, and biochemistry to understand the influence of anaerobic microorganisms on biogeochemical cycles. The long-term goal is to illuminate fundamental mechanisms and principles of environmental processes and inspire sustainable technologies.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Ph.D. in bioinformatics, microbiology, or a related discipline with proven training and experience in metagenomics
- Proficiency in Python and Bash
- Experience with Linux environments
- Excellent interpersonal communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English
Job Description:
The Postdoctoral candidate will be responsible for:
- Identifying extrachromosomal elements in metagenomic datasets and analyzing them in silico
- Establishing a metagenomic and computational software infrastructure
- Communicating findings at conferences and through high-quality publications
- Mentoring and training graduate, master, and bachelor students
