Summary:
The University of Cologne, one of Europe’s largest and oldest universities, invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the optical condensed matter physics group. This group focuses on non-equilibrium dynamics in quantum materials and is part of the CRC 1238 “Control and Dynamics of Quantum Materials.” The postdoctoral researcher will conduct cutting-edge research using magnetic/electronic Raman spectroscopy to explore many-body physics in quantum materials. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to collaborate with leading experimental and theoretical groups.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in Physics.
  • Several years of post-doctoral research experience.
  • Experience in Raman scattering in quantum materials.
  • Excellent academic track record.
  • Excellent command of English.
  • Teaching experience is a plus.
  • Strong motivation, commitment, good communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team.

Job Description:
The postdoctoral researcher will:

  • Conduct research focusing on many-body physics in quantum materials using magnetic/electronic Raman spectroscopy.
  • Present and disseminate research results at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed publications.
  • Supervise undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students.
  • Actively participate in the teaching efforts of the institute, contributing to the academic community.
  • Work in collaboration with experimental and theoretical teams within the CRC 1238 research cluster.
