Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in Biology, Genetics, or a related field.
  • Strong publication record.
  • Experience in molecular cloning, plant handling (Arabidopsis, maize, or other plant species), and plant genome analysis.
  • Expertise in ONT sequencing, TurboID, protein–protein interactions, meiotic cytology, or CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene editing is a strong advantage.

Job Description:
The successful candidate will work on a project exploring the factors and pathways controlling meiotic crossover formation in plants, focusing primarily on Arabidopsis. The role will involve:

  • Mapping crossover frequency, distribution, and hotspot activity across various mutants.
  • Testing hypotheses using biochemical and cytogenetic methods.
  • Developing new methods to study noncrossovers in plants.
  • Proposing mechanistic models for the choice of recombination pathways.
  • Assessing the evolutionary impact of increased crossover frequency by propagating mutant combinations for multiple generations.
  • Assisting in the training of undergraduate students (no formal teaching duties).

The position does not require formal teaching duties but the researcher will contribute to training and mentoring undergraduates.
