Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Digital and Computational Humanities, or related fields (must be completed by the start of the appointment).
  • Demonstrable experience in the development of research software or AI applications.
  • Strong proficiency in Python programming.
  • An interest in cultural heritage or disciplines within the Humanities.
  • Strong academic track record, including an excellent doctoral thesis and relevant publications.
  • Ability to conduct independent research and collaborate effectively with researchers and external stakeholders.
  • Professional command of English with good presentation skills.

Job Description:
The successful candidate will:

  • Conduct independent research on selected topics related to Machine Learning applications in the Humanities.
  • Engage in developing and validating AI-driven solutions, such as automatic text recognition of primary sources, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) applications, and agent orchestration systems for cultural heritage collections.
  • Lead the research, development, and evaluation of AI applications that enhance the understanding of digital cultural heritage.
  • Participate in relevant activities at the Center for Digital and Computational Humanities, contributing to a collaborative research environment.
  • Publish and present findings in leading international conferences and journals.

Emphasis will be placed on:

  • Evaluation of results using novel benchmarks.
  • Open-source publication of research outcomes.

Note: This position primarily focuses on research, and there are no teaching obligations.
