Postdoctoral Position in Materials Design: Uppsala University, Department of Physics and Astronomy, is seeking a highly motivated postdoc with outstanding qualifications in the field of computational magnetism and materials theory to work in the group of Dr. Heike Herper. The successful candidate will join the MaMMoS project, focusing on ab initio modeling of magnetic phases relevant to the design of electric motors by industrial partners.
Postdoctoral Position in Magnetic Materials Design
Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Area: Computational materials science with a focus on magnetic materials for energy applications, particularly the development of sustainable permanent magnets for automotive applications.
Location: Uppsala, Sweden
Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD degree in physics (condensed matter) or a foreign equivalent.
- Strong background in theoretical magnetism.
- Experienced in handling ab initio methods and spin dynamics codes.
- Excellent programming skills (e.g., Python, C, or Fortran).
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and oral).
- Capability to independently organize work in the project.
- Ability to work in a team.
Additional Qualifications: Experience with high-performance computing.

Job Description: The successful candidate will work for 2 years within the MaMMoS project, performing high throughput ab initio, spin dynamics simulations, and developing new approaches to describe the temperature dependence of magnetocrystalline anisotropy. They will organize the workflow within the subproject hosted at Uppsala University and participate in setting up software tools to ensure data transfer to project partners.
