Postdoctoral Position in Metabolomics: The Swedish Metabolomics Centre (SMC) at the Department of Forest Genetics and Plant Physiology, Umeå Plant Science Centre (UPSC), is seeking a postdoctoral researcher specializing in bioinformatics, chemometrics, or related fields. The position focuses on method development in metabolomics and mass spectrometry-based data analysis. This is a two-year temporary position with the possibility of extension.

Location: Department of Forest Genetics and Plant Physiology, SLU, Umeå, Sweden

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. in metabolomics, bioinformatics, chemometrics, or a related field.
  • Extensive knowledge in chromatography and mass spectrometry data analysis.
  • Experience in preprocessing of mass spectrometry-based data is an advantage.
  • Proficiency with open-source software such as XCMS, MzMine, MS-Dial, OpenMS, and manufacturer-specific software.
  • Strong programming skills (MATLAB, Python, R).
  • Ability to conduct independent research and present scientific conclusions competitively at an international level.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
  • Position is intended for junior researchers who have completed their Ph.D. within the past three years.

Job Description:

  • Develop and optimize methodologies in metabolomics, lipidomics, and fluxomics.
  • Enhance mass spectrometry-based services for broader accessibility in research.
  • Work on method development in metabolomics and mass spectrometry-based data analysis.
  • Participate in collaborative projects within SciLifeLab and CBMR.
  • Utilize advanced mass spectrometry instruments, including GC-TOFMS, LC-QTOFMS, LC-TQMSMS, and RF/SPE-IM-QTOFMS.
  • Conduct independent research and contribute to scientific publications.
