Eligibility/Qualification

  • Ph.D. degree in the physical sciences or expected to graduate within six months.
  • Experience with synchrotron X-ray methods to study functional materials.
  • Proficient in writing scripts for image and/or spectral analysis.
  • Strong publication track record related to synchrotron X-ray work.
  • Preferred experience in:
  • Materials characterization using transmission electron microscopy.
  • Scanning transmission X-ray microscopy.
  • In situ and operando experiments.
  • Advanced and/or automated data analysis.

Job Description

  • Conduct in situ/operando studies of heterogeneous catalysts using state-of-the-art liquid cell transmission electron microscopy (TEM) holders.
  • Perform correlated transmission X-ray microscopy (TXM) studies at synchrotron radiation beamlines.
  • Visualize the structure and oxidation state of working catalysts under reaction conditions.
  • Investigate structure-property relationships of catalysts.
  • The position is initially for one year, with the possibility of extension up to three years.
