Postdoctoral Position in Molecular Neurophysiology: Join the ‘Molecular Neurophysiology’ research team at the Biomedical Center of Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU), Munich. We are focused on uncovering the neuroprotective capabilities of Müller cells in the retina, contributing to the development of advanced treatments for complex retinal degenerations. This project is a collaborative effort funded by the DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) and offers a unique opportunity for high-level collaboration with leading research teams.

Designation: Postdoctoral Position

Research Area: Molecular Neurophysiology – New Approaches for Gene Therapy of Diabetic Retinopathy (DR)

Location: Planegg-Martinsried, Biomedical Center, Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in life sciences or related disciplines
  • Strong commitment to basic science and interest in retinal diseases
  • Independent research skills
  • Excellent team spirit for multi-disciplinary collaboration
  • Preferred: Experience in molecular and biochemical techniques (gene expression analysis, cloning, CRISPR-Cas technologies, cell culture, AAV production, microscopy)

Job Description:

  • Investigate immune responses and homeostatic functions in retinal Müller cells
  • Develop therapeutic strategies for balancing Müller cell metabolisms in diabetic retinopathy using a multiplex CRISPR-Cas9-based approach in a pig model
