Research Area:
The project seeks to develop and evaluate non-fluorinated and sustainable electrolytes for sodium-ion (Na-ion) batteries. Primary research will focus on:

  • Synthesis of new salts.
  • Investigation of green solvents.
  • Analysis of salt-solvent-additive combinations.
  • Electrochemical and physicochemical characterization of systems.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD Degree: Candidates must hold a PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field by the time of appointment.
  • Experience Required:
  • Proficiency in organic synthesis, liquid electrolytes, structural characterization techniques, and electrochemistry.
  • Capacity for independent research of high quality.
  • Desirable Qualifications:
  • Expertise in electrolyte additives, interphases, physicochemical characterization, and environmental/life cycle analyses.
  • Practical experience in battery materials, battery cell assembly, and glovebox operations.
  • Additional Considerations: Excellent collaborative abilities, independence, and alignment with ongoing research activities in the department.

Job Description:
The role will primarily involve conducting research with opportunities for up to 20% teaching duties. Responsibilities include:

  • High-quality synthesis of novel salts and exploration of green solvents.
  • Combining salts, solvents, and additives to study their effects on battery performance.
  • Characterization of electrochemical and physicochemical properties.
  • Dissemination of results through peer-reviewed journals and presentations at international conferences.
  • Collaboration with departmental colleagues and contribution to advancing research at the Ångström Advanced Battery Centre (ÅABC).
