Postdoctoral Position in OPUS-26 Project: This project aims to develop a novel method for transforming natural polymers (e.g., cellulose and chitosan) into valuable porous supports to manage the incorporation of plasmonic nanophotocatalysts with a co-photocatalytic piezoelectric element (earth abundant ZnO), thereby enhancing the overall physicochemical properties of these hybrids.

Postdoctoral Researcher Position in the OPUS-26 Project

Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Area: Chemistry, specifically in heterogeneous catalysis

Location: Institute of Physical Chemistry PAS, Warsaw, Poland

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Education Level: PhD or equivalent in Chemistry or a related field.
  • Skills/Qualifications:
    • Design/modeling of methods for piezophotocatalysts’ preparation.
    • Materials synthesis, characterization, and testing.
    • Experience in sonochemistry and flow reactors design/modeling.
    • Familiarity with characterization techniques such as SEM, HRTEM, XPS, XRD, DR UV-Vis, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, photoluminescence, AFM/STM, FTIR, and Raman spectroscopy.
    • Ability to communicate fluently in English (written and spoken).
    • Strong motivation, creativity, and analytical thinking.
    • Experience in supervising and teaching students is an advantage.

Job Description:

  • Conduct systematic basic research on the effects of ultrasonic energy on hybrid materials synthesis.
  • Characterize and test hybrid materials in selective redox sonophotocatalytic reactions.
  • Prepare metal-containing porous carbon-based piezophotocatalytic materials.
  • Report and publish scientific findings.
  • Supervise junior group members and contribute to the lab’s efficient functioning.
  • Collaborate internationally and participate in conferences.

Additional Information:

  • Benefits: Gross salary of approximately 9,600 PLN/month. The position starts the earliest on October 1, 2024, and the latest on January 2, 2025, with a maximum planned period of contract of 24 months (with a prolongation option depending on funds and project needs).
  • Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must meet specific requirements, including not having their PhD awarded by the Institute of Physical Chemistry PAS and having a postdoctoral internship of at least 10 months in a different entity.
