Eligibility/Qualification
- PhD in Organic Synthesis
- Proficiency in synthesis, purification, and structural characterization
- Experience in glycochemistry and/or bioconjugation is a plus but not mandatory
- Interest in chemistry-biology interface topics
Job Description
The successful candidate will work on synthesizing and bioconjugating chondroitin sulfate (CS) oligosaccharides. CS are complex polysulfated polysaccharides involved in biological processes such as cartilage tissue homeostasis, cell adhesion, and neuronal growth. Due to their complex structure, synthesizing large CS oligosaccharides (> octasaccharides) is challenging.
Project Tasks Include:
- Synthesizing functionally diverse CS oligosaccharides with varying sizes and sulfation motifs.
- Exploring various bioconjugation methods for these oligosaccharides.
- Structural characterization and biological activity evaluation of the glycoconjugates in collaboration with Dr. Régis Daniel (LAMBE, Univ. Evry), Dr. Fabien Lecaille (CEPR, Tours), and GLYcoDiag (Orléans).
