Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher

Location: Uppsala, Sweden


Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD degree in Population Genetics, Bioinformatics, Archaeogenetics, or a foreign equivalent, obtained by the time of the employment decision.
  • Priority will be given to applicants whose degree has been completed no more than three years prior to the application deadline; exceptions may apply for circumstances like sick leave or parental leave.
  • Proven experience with palaeogenomics techniques and computer-based analysis methods.
  • Strong independence and high research quality demonstrated through publications.
  • Excellent oral and written skills in English.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience in population genetics and/or archaeogenetics related to Africa, Oceania, and Eurasia.
  • Knowledge of mathematics, computational methods, and statistics.
  • Contribution to open science and international interdisciplinary research contexts are advantageous.

Job Description:
The postdoctoral researcher will conduct research using palaeo-population genomic approaches. Key responsibilities include:

  • Utilizing ancient DNA techniques and population genomics principles.
  • Conducting computer-based data analysis.
  • Integrating data from genetics, archaeology, and linguistics to illuminate aspects of human prehistory.

The position is full-time and temporary for two years, with a potential teaching and supervision component of up to 20%. The start date is 15 February 2026 or according to agreement.
