Postdoctoral Position in Protein Quality: The Allen Frontiers Group is seeking an ambitious and enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher to join the Clausen Group at the Research Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP) in Vienna. Eligibility/Qualification
- A PhD in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or a related field.
- Documented experience in C. elegans genetics and molecular biology.
- Expertise in at least one of the following topics: proteomics, fluorescence microscopy, chemical biology, structural biology.
- Interest in studying proteostasis mechanisms and the pathology of protein disorders.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative team spirit.
Job Description
The postdoctoral researcher will:
- Utilize a novel type of fluorescent reporter to monitor the fate of pathologic proteins in living C. elegans.
- Perform genome-wide screens to identify proteostasis factors that prevent protein aggregation in muscle cells.
- Conduct a comparative analysis of proteostasis networks across young and aged organisms.
- Perform mechanistic studies on ubiquitination factors and autophagy proteins critical for muscle protein homeostasis.
- Investigate how patient-derived myosin mutations contribute to muscle dysfunction and their relationship with premature aging.
- Collaborate within an interdisciplinary team, leveraging cutting-edge technologies including cryoEM and quantitative proteomics.
- Benefit from a supportive research environment and have access to state-of-the-art facilities at the IMP and Vienna Biocenter.
