Designation: PostDoc in Evolutionary Quantitative Genetics of Forest Trees

Research Area: Evolutionary Genetics, Quantitative Genetics/Genomics of Forest Trees

Location: WSL, Birmensdorf, near Zurich, Switzerland

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD degree in quantitative genetics/genomics of plants, plant breeding, or evolutionary biology
  • Solid background in plant/animal breeding methods (mixed-effects models), bioinformatics, and seedling development/physiology
  • Fluency in R/Python and knowledge of ASReml-R is a plus
  • Experience in working with forest trees is advantageous but not essential

Job Description:
The successful candidate will focus on investigating the role of gene-environment interactions in seedling performance using trait data, genomics, and environmental data. The primary goal is to estimate the reaction norms of different populations and lineages across a wide range of environments and integrate this information into a genomic prediction model. The position will involve data analysis and statistical modeling, with an emphasis on leveraging unconventional and unprecedented trait and genomic data to drive scientific publications in leading journals.
