Eligibility/Qualification
- A PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
- Proven experience with Shape Memory Alloys, preferably within the NiTi family, including post-processing and shape programming (one-way and two-way shape memory effects).
- Demonstrated expertise in additive manufacturing of SMAs, ideally using the Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) technique.
- Proficiency in thermo-mechanical and microstructural characterization methods (e.g., DSC, SEM, EBSD, XRD).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive, organized, detail-oriented approach with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- A collaborative, creative, and problem-solving mindset.
Job Description
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will primarily focus on experimental research involving:
- The manufacturing and characterization of SMA components.
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team from UTwente, FIP, TU Delft, NLR, M2I, and other partners.
- Designing smart winglets that optimize aerodynamic performance by responding to temperature variations with active thermal control, supporting climate-neutral aviation goals.
Offer
- Full-time appointment for two years (1 + 1 year contract).
- Competitive salary ranging from €4,241 to €5,538 gross per month, depending on qualifications and experience.
