Postdoc in France

Postdoctoral Position in Soft Matter: The Lumière Matière Institute (iLM) is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the Liquids and Interfaces team. This position focuses on studying the freezing stability of soft objects through directional freezing experiments and confocal microscopy as part of the ANR FROST project.

Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Area: Soft Matter

Location: Villeurbanne, France

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • A Doctoral degree (PhD) in a relevant field
  • 1 to 4 years of postdoctoral experience preferred

Job Description:
The successful candidate will:

  • Conduct directional freezing experiments coupled with confocal microscopy to investigate the freezing stability of soft objects.
  • Prepare and physicochemically characterize the suspensions of study objects ensuring reproducibility.
  • Analyze and interpret confocal microscopy data to link the stability of objects to freezing conditions and their physicochemical characteristics.
  • Contribute to the scientific dissemination of results through drafting articles, conference presentations, and participation in project meetings and reports.

Key Competencies:

  • Proficiency in experimental techniques in confocal microscopy and microfluidics.
  • Strong knowledge of the physics and physicochemical properties of soft matter (e.g., emulsions).
  • Expertise in freezing/solidification processes.
  • Ability to analyze and process experimental data (Python).
