Study Area: The Postdoctoral Associate will focus on spatial ecology, specifically analyzing contact and space-use patterns in various mammal species to better understand pathogen transmission dynamics.
Scholarship Description: The selected candidate will assist with GPS collar deployment, data collection, site coordination, and help with animal care and use protocols. The Fellow will also be responsible for data analysis and leading manuscript development. This role involves direct field duties such as capturing, collaring, and processing mammals like opossums, skunks, raccoons, and squirrels. The laboratories offer a supportive, interdisciplinary environment to further explore the relationship between the environment and infectious diseases.
Eligibility:
- Must hold a Ph.D. in ecology, wildlife or a related field, awarded no more than four years prior to the date of appointment.
- Must have previous experience in handling small mammals or mesocarnivores, setting live traps, and conducting similar fieldwork.
- Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills are essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven record of peer-reviewed publications.
- Experience with animal anesthesia and chemical immobilization.
- Experience in collecting blood from animals.
