Summary
The CATIA (Catalysis and Artificial Intelligence) research group at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) is offering a 3-year postdoctoral position focused on total synthesis and the development of new catalytic methods for the synthesis of therapeutic agents targeting Alzheimer’s disease. Eligibility / Qualification
Applicants should have:
- PhD in Organic Chemistry
- Strong experience in the synthesis of medium- to high-complexity organic molecules
- Experience with organometallic catalysis, including Schlenk techniques
- Knowledge/experience in photocatalysis is desirable
- Experience with standard analytical techniques for organic compounds, including:
- NMR spectroscopy
- Mass spectrometry
- HPLC
- Good command of English
Job Description
The successful candidate will:
- Design retrosynthetic analyses for targeted compounds.
- Develop and perform the synthesis of required starting materials and target molecules.
- Develop and optimize catalytic methodologies using organometallic chemistry and photocatalysis.
- Apply the developed methods at the laboratory scale.
- Characterize synthesized compounds using standard analytical techniques such as NMR, MS and HPLC.
- Conduct relevant literature searches and contribute to the development of new synthetic strategies.
- Work toward the synthesis of new therapeutic candidates targeting Alzheimer’s disease.
The research environment is strongly aligned with Javier Corpas’s work in organic synthesis, organometallic chemistry and photocatalytic methods.
