Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher – Accelerator Physics

Research Area: Collective effects in the MAX 4U upgrade project and existing MAX IV storage rings, accelerator physics, simulation tools, impedance measurements, and calculations.

Location: Lund, Skåne län, Sweden

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • A Ph.D. in accelerator physics or equivalent, completed within the last three years before the application deadline.
  • In-depth knowledge of accelerator physics.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB, C.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

Job Description:
As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will:

  • Utilize simulation tools such as MBTRACK, PyHeadTail, and Elegant to calculate thresholds of coherent collective instabilities in MAX 4U, focusing on reduced momentum compaction.
  • Conduct impedance measurements on the existing ring and perform impedance calculations for MAX 4U.
  • Improve the existing impedance model of the 3 GeV ring.
  • Co-author the conceptual design report for MAX 4U.
  • Participate in operational efforts of the MAX IV accelerators.
  • Engage in extensive theoretical studies and simulations of collective effects to support the MAX 4U upgrade project.
