Research Focus

Computational biophysics focusing on the multiscale modeling of IDP condensate transition into amyloid-like fibrils.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team investigating the molecular mechanisms governing the transition of intrinsically disordered protein (IDP) condensates into amyloid-like fibrils. This research is critical for understanding the early stages of neurodegenerative diseases.

The project utilizes a multiscale simulation framework, employing Martini 3 coarse-grained (CG) simulations adapted for IDPs, complemented by an extended GōMartini 3 model for controlled stabilization of sequence-specific secondary structures.

Job Description

  • Investigate conformational rearrangements of individual protein chains.
  • Model the nucleation of ordered $\beta$-strand–rich assemblies and their spatial organization within biomolecular condensates.
  • Integrate experimental microscopy data for model parametrization and validation.
  • Prepare scientific manuscripts and present research findings at international conferences.
  • Contribute to the supervision and mentoring of PhD students.

Eligibility & Qualifications

While specific formal requirements are detailed in the full job posting (PDF), the role is suited for researchers with a background in computational biophysics, molecular modeling, or structural biology who are interested in the intersection of phase separation, protein aggregation, and neurodegeneration.

How to Apply
