Postdoctoral Position – Nanotechnology: Join an interdisciplinary research project focusing on developing nanocellulose-based materials for the treatment of chronic wounds. This temporary full-time position spans two years, with a potential starting date as soon as possible or by mutual agreement.

Postdoctoral Position – Nanotechnology and Functional Materials with Focus on Functionalization of Nanocellulose

  • Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher
  • Research Area: Nanotechnology and Functional Materials, with a specific emphasis on the functionalization of nanocellulose for chronic wound treatment.
  • Location: Uppsala University, Disciplinary Domain of Science and Technology, Faculty of Technology, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Uppsala, Sweden.
  • Eligibility/Qualification:
  • A doctoral degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Materials Engineering, Materials Science, or related fields.
  • Documented expertise in carbohydrate chemistry and material characterization.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and oral.
  • Experience in chemical modification of nanocellulose will be considered a strong merit, as well as expertise in design and synthesis of peptides.
  • Job Description:
  • Primary focus on functionalizing nanocellulose to achieve effective delivery of bioactive peptides to the chronic wound environment.
  • Chemical modification and functionalization of nanocellulose, including the incorporation of crosslinkers to investigate the controlled release of peptides.
  • Investigation of diverse coupling chemistries and strategies to ensure stable and bioactive functionalized materials.
  • Material characterization in terms of chemical structure, degree of substitution, fiber morphology, and material stability in simulated biological environments.
  • Design and synthesis of peptides as a fundamental part of the experimental work.
  • Communication of research results through scientific articles in well-established journals and presentations at international conferences.
  • Potential supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • Contribution to applications for external research funding.
