Postdoctoral Position: Neurodegeneration: The Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD) at the TU Dresden is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Rodríguez-Muela research team. This position, funded by the European Research Council (ERC), focuses on investigating the developmental basis of neurodegeneration. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment with access to cutting-edge technology platforms.

Postdoctoral Position to Study the Developmental Basis of Neurodegeneration

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD degree in biology, biomedicine, or related field
  • Demonstrated expertise in neuroscience, developmental neurobiology, and genetics
  • Strong publication record in relevant fields
  • Experience with human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) work, organoid technology, cellular and biochemical techniques (cloning and genome editing experience is advantageous)
  • Proficiency in single-cell RNA sequencing analysis (basic computational knowledge on ATACseq and epigenetics is a plus)
  • Excellent English communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Curiosity, motivation, creativity, and enthusiasm for research

Job Description: The selected candidate will collaborate with the Rodríguez-Muela research team to investigate the molecular principles underlying selective neuronal vulnerability in neurodegenerative diseases such as spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and Alzheimer’s disease. Utilizing human iPSC-derived 2D and 3D models, the postdoc will explore the neurodevelopmental components triggering disease onset in adulthood and elucidate underlying mechanistic events. This position offers the opportunity to lead an innovative, clinically relevant research project within a dynamic and supportive team environment.
