Postdoctoral Position on Marine Biogeosciences: The Institute of Natural Resources and Agrobiology (IRNASA) of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Position as part of the European Research Council (ERC) Project “PASSAGE: Provenance And transport PathwayS of marine proxy-bearinG particlEs.” The position will focus on exploring the transportation and impact of marine sediment on paleoclimate reconstructions, contributing to a better understanding of the global carbon cycle.

Eligibility/Qualification
- PhD in Earth Sciences, Marine Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or related disciplines.
- Strong interest in the global (organic) carbon cycle, modern ocean hydrology, and paleoclimate.
- Experience in sediment trap research and/or radiocarbon of organic carbon is advantageous.
- Proficiency in R or Matlab programming is preferred.
- Good spoken and written English skills are essential.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Job Description
The Postdoctoral researcher will:
- Analyze and interpret hydrographic databases.
- Conduct geochemical, sedimentological, and micropaleontological analyses on various sample types (sediment traps, sediments, filtered water, etc.).
- Formulate additional hypotheses and research questions based on findings.
- Collaborate with group members and mentors to discuss data and ideas.
- Write high-quality research manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
- Present results at international conferences and mentor undergraduate students.
The contract is full-time (40 hours/week) for 24 months with a gross salary of €2,749.59/month (14 salaries a year). The position starts in September/October 2025.
