Eligibility / Qualification
- Education: Completion of medical school.
- Academic Background: Strong foundation in science with university studies in biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, or similar fields.
- Target Candidates: Medical graduates interested in gaining research experience prior to applying for an ophthalmology residency. Consideration will also be given to foreign-trained physicians/scientists interested in exploring research in ophthalmology in the United States prior to embarking on a residency.
Job Description
The Retinal Imaging Fellow will participate in innovative research projects and receive tailored training to support their long-term career development as an independent scientist or physician-scientist. Key responsibilities and training opportunities include:
- Research & Analysis: Developing expertise in retinal imaging, experimental design, and data analysis.
- Scientific Communication: Training in scientific writing, grant development, manuscript preparation, and the presentation of research findings.
- Mentorship: Receiving direct mentorship from Dr. Lucian Del Priore through regular meetings to review progress and establish career goals.
- Academic Engagement: Participating in laboratory meetings, journal clubs, departmental seminars, and collaborative research activities with faculty and trainees.
