Postdoctoral Position: Plant Genome Manipulation, , New Mexico, USA

Postdoctoral Position in USA

Postdoctoral Position: Plant Genome: The University of New Mexico invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying gall induction in cynipid gall wasps on live oak trees. The position is funded by USDA and NSF and aims to unravel the conserved genes involved in galling through genomics, proteomics, and transcriptomics. The research will be conducted in collaboration with Dr. Ellen Martinson at the University of New Mexico and Dr. Scott Egan at Rice University.

Postdoctoral Position: Plant Genome Manipulation by Insects

Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Area: Molecular mechanisms of gall induction in cynipid gall wasps on live oak trees

Location: University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Eligibility/Qualification: Required:

  • Ph.D. in Biology or a related discipline
  • Genomic and bioinformatic experience

Preferred:

  • Experience with RNA-Seq data
  • Experience with transcriptomes of insects and/or plants

Job Description: The postdoctoral researcher will investigate the identity and evolution of conserved wasp and plant host genes involved in cynipid wasps galling live oak trees. The research will involve genomics, proteomics, and transcriptomics. The position is based in the collaborative and multidisciplinary environment of UNM Biology, under the supervision of Dr. Ellen Martinson. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic research team and will have the opportunity to contribute to the understanding of complex manipulation in plant-insect interactions.
