Postdoctoral Position – Visual Factors: A postdoctoral position is available to work on the GRAPPA project, funded by an ERC Advanced Grant, at KU Leuven in Belgium. The project aims to develop and test a model to predict, explain and understand aesthetic preferences for natural images and artworks based on mid-level vision factors.
Postdoctoral Position – Visual Factors Underlying Aesthetic Image Preferences
Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Area: Perceptual Organization, Empirical or Computational Aesthetics, Eye-Tracking, Computational Models of Human Vision, Machine Learning for Vision and Image Analysis
Location: KU Leuven, Leuven, Belgium
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Eligible candidates have a PhD in a relevant area and demonstrated research experience with first-author peer-reviewed publications.
- Required expertise in one or more of the following areas: (1) psychophysics/experimental psychology of perceptual organization, (2) eye-tracking experiments and data analysis, (3) advanced statistical methods for behavioral data, (4) computational models of human vision, (5) machine learning models of vision and/or image aesthetics.
- Further assets include experience with interdisciplinary research, visual neuroscience/computational neuroscience, creativity, problem-solving skills, and a collaborative attitude.
Job Description:
- The postdoc will form a bridge between the research on perceptual organization in human vision and its role in aesthetic appreciation, and the machine learning models developed by the computer scientists on the project.
- Responsibilities include conducting experiments, data analysis, developing computational models, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team.
- The position is research-only, without teaching obligations, but teaching opportunities can be arranged.
