Postdoctoral Positions in HIV-1 Persistence:
Postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Saikat Boliar at the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, University at Buffalo, State University of New York. The research focuses on HIV-1 persistence in tissue-resident lung alveolar macrophages and its impact on macrophage innate immunity.
Postdoctoral Positions in HIV-1 Persistence/Latency
Designation:
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Research Area:
HIV-1 Persistence and Latency, Molecular Virology, Immunology, RNA Biology
Location:
Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, University at Buffalo, State University of New York, USA, with collaborative work at the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Clinical Research Program in Blantyre, Malawi.
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Recent PhD graduates in virology, immunology, or biochemistry.

- Knowledge of bioinformatics is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, demonstrated through first-author publications and research presentations.
Job Description:
The first position involves collaboration with scientists at the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Clinical Research Program to study viral genomic and transcriptomic profiles in infected alveolar macrophages and compare cellular distribution in antiretroviral-treated versus untreated participants. The second position focuses on identifying the role of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) as host-dependency factors in HIV-1 latency/persistence and exploring their therapeutic potential. The fellows will gain expertise in molecular virology, immunology, and RNA biology, working in a collaborative and supportive environment with opportunities for research and career development.
