Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in infectious disease epidemiology, mathematics, statistics, physics, AI, computer science, population biology, or a similarly quantitative discipline.
- Experience in working with mathematical and/or statistical models and/or AI.
- Strong interest in infectious disease epidemiology.
- Proficient in data analysis, interpretation, and presentation.
- Good knowledge of the R statistical programming language; programming experience in C, C++, Python or Java is desirable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Job Description:
Candidates will be expected to:
- Develop and apply statistical and mathematical models to enhance understanding of epidemic dynamics.
- Work on diverse projects including:
- Enhancing epidemic preparedness through AI methodologies.
- Evaluating various surveillance systems for epidemic monitoring.
- Modelling the spread patterns of COVID-19, influenza, and RSV.
- Studying antibody dynamics related to mosquito-borne diseases.
- Analyzing the transmission of Plague in Madagascar.
- Forecasting influenza epidemics considering age group dynamics.
Funding for the positions is available for one year, with the possibility of extension. The successful applicants will collaborate with an expert team and contribute significantly to the research unit’s goals.
