Postdoctoral Positions in the Energy Materials: The Energy Materials and Sustainability (EMS) Unit at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) is inviting applications for up to two Postdoctoral Scholar positions. Exceptional candidates may be considered for Staff Scientist roles based on extensive experience.

Postdoctoral Positions in the Energy Materials and Sustainability Unit

Designation:
Postdoctoral Scholar / Staff Scientist

Research Area:
The design and development of advanced energy materials, catalysis, energy conversion, CO₂/N₂ fixation, and sustainable chemical transformations.

Location:
Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University, 1919-1 Tancha, Onna-son, Kunigami-gun, Okinawa, Japan

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Strong motivation for interdisciplinary research in sustainable energy and catalysis.

Job Description:
Postdoctoral Scholars are expected to engage in creative, curiosity-driven research with responsibilities that include:

  • Conducting high-quality research on the synthesis, characterization, and integration of nanomaterials and catalysts for solar or electrochemical energy conversion.
  • Publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at international conferences.
  • Mentoring graduate students and supervising laboratory activities.
  • Participating in collaborative initiatives that align with the Unit’s mission towards sustainable energy and circular chemical technologies.
