Eligibility/Qualification:
- Essential:
- PhD (or near completion) in microbiology, molecular biology, or a related discipline.
- Strong experimental experience in microbiology, molecular cloning, and bacterial genetics.
- Previous CL3 experience or willingness to undergo CL3 training.
- Experience in protein biochemistry, including protein expression and purification, or willingness to undergo training.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Desirable:
- Experience with Mycobacterium tuberculosis or other mycobacterial species.
- Experience with drug discovery projects, including MIC determination and high-throughput assay setup.
- Experience with proteomics workflows.
- Experience with biophysical techniques (e.g., ITC, SPR, FP).
Job Description:
The successful candidate will lead their own project, combining molecular microbiology and protein biochemistry with hands-on experimental work in Containment Level 3 (CL3) laboratories. Key responsibilities include:
- Performing microbiology experiments involving mycobacterial species, including M. tuberculosis under CL3 containment.
- Designing and performing molecular cloning and genetic engineering experiments.
- Expressing, purifying, and characterizing bacterial proteins, along with conducting biochemical, enzymatic, and interaction assays.
- Contributing to proteomics workflows and developing tools for targeted protein degradation in mycobacteria.
- Analyzing and interpreting data, maintaining accurate laboratory records, and presenting findings.
- Preparing manuscripts for publication and contributing to collaborative reports and grant activities.
- Leading projects and supporting junior researchers, fostering a positive lab environment.
