Postdoctoral Research and Teaching Fellow: The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver campus, is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of a two-year full-time Postdoctoral Research and Teaching Fellow. The candidate will play a crucial role in the design, implementation, and assessment of a transformational pedagogical strategy for Engineering curricula, focusing on sustainability and equity, diversity, inclusion, and Indigeneity (EDII) content. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the development of new learning modules and the redesign of existing courses while promoting engineering student engagement with EDII topics.

Eligibility/Qualification:

Qualification
A Ph.D. in any engineering discipline (including engineering education), completed within the last 5 years.
Experience teaching in a post-secondary context (e.g., as an instructor or teaching assistant).
Knowledge of and commitment to EDII, indigeneity/decolonization, and sustainability
  • A Ph.D. in any engineering discipline (including engineering education), completed within the last 5 years.
  • Experience teaching in a post-secondary context (e.g., as an instructor or teaching assistant).
  • Knowledge of and commitment to EDII, indigeneity/decolonization, and sustainability, preferably in an engineering context.
  • Interest in a career path in post-secondary teaching and learning within engineering.

  1. Design and develop EDII and sustainability modules for existing courses.
  2. Review the pedagogy and redesign and/or develop content for two large-scale Professional Practice courses in engineering.
  3. Perform literature reviews on EDII and sustainability teaching and assessment in engineering to determine leading-edge practices.
  4. Design rigorous evaluation strategies for EDII and sustainability learning in engineering.
  5. Oversee data collection and analysis to evaluate the developed content and pedagogies.
  6. Organize and analyze qualitative and quantitative data using software tools.
  7. Write literature for publication in engineering education-related conferences, journals, and/or workshops.
  8. Attend and present at conferences related to engineering education.
