Postdoctoral Research: Applying AI: The School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS) at the University of Michigan seeks applications for a postdoctoral position to apply artificial intelligence (AI) approaches to problems and issues in the domain of Environment and Sustainability.

Location: University of Michigan, Ann Arbor

Eligibility/Qualification: Candidates must have a PhD in data science, statistics, computer science, AI, or a related field. They should have experience using computational data science or AI approaches, such as machine learning, artificial neural nets, knowledge modeling, Bayesian modeling, or other approaches. Strong communication skills, ability to work both as part of a team and independently, experience in preparing research findings for conference presentations and refereed journal articles, and a demonstrated interest in applying AI methods and approaches in the environment and sustainability domain are required.

Job Description: The selected candidate will work closely with Prof. Bill Currie from SEAS, who utilizes computer modeling to understand ecosystems & landscapes and the impacts of human activities on the environment. Collaborative research topics will be developed between the candidate and Dr. Currie, which could include grounding, alignment, knowledge modeling, automated research workflows, or other topics. The candidate will have opportunities for significant training and skills development through MIDAS programs and will be part of a vibrant postdoctoral community in both MIDAS and SEAS.
