Postdoctoral Research Assistant: The Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences at the University of Oxford is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Assistant with a background in bioinformatics and spatial genomics to join the Laboratory of Cell and Tissue Dynamics. This role will focus on investigating mechanical determinants of cell fate decisions and tissue dynamics in lung regeneration and fibrosis.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • PhD/DPhil (or near completion) in bioinformatics, computer science, applied mathematics, physics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong skills in programming languages, specifically Python and R.
  • Experience in writing bioinformatics and AI/ML analysis pipelines for spatial transcriptomics and single-cell genomics data.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Job Description

You will contribute to a Royal Society funded project focusing on the mechanical determinants of cell fate decisions and tissue dynamics in lung regeneration and fibrosis. Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining bioinformatics and AI/ML data analysis pipelines for single-cell and spatial multi-omics data.
  • Analyzing spatial multimodal datasets from patient tissues and mouse models for collaborative projects.
  • Advising colleagues on computational methodologies and supervising technical staff and research students.
  • Contributing to open-source bioinformatics projects is highly desirable.
