Eligibility/Qualification
- Possess or be close to obtaining a PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or Engineering.
- Highly versed in materials synthesis and characterisation, and thin-film deposition techniques.
- Knowledge of semiconductor physics is essential.
- Track record of working with next-generation novel materials for light-harvesting is essential.
- Highly motivated with excellent skills in working collaboratively as part of a team.
- Good track record of high-quality publications is essential.
- Ability to direct your own research and interpret your results independently is a must.
Job Description
The Postdoctoral Research Assistant will contribute to the “Advanced Device Concepts for Next-Generation Photovoltaics” Programme Grant. This collaborative project brings together expertise from Oxford Physics, Materials, and Chemistry, and Liverpool Chemistry. The successful candidate will be involved in multidisciplinary research across inter-linked work streams, exploring and conceiving four new photovoltaic device concepts and paradigms. This includes investigating new device architectures, concentrator PV, quantum cutting, hot-carrier collection, and photon transport, utilizing absorber materials such as metal-halide perovskites, silicon, and novel low-band-gap chalcogenide-halide semiconductors, supported by fundamental experimental characterisation and materials modelling.
