Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Hold or be near completion of a PhD in a relevant area of biological or physical science.
  • Strong track record in molecular structure-function relationships, intracellular compartmentalization, or similar.
  • Excellent experimental skills and ability to independently drive a project.
  • Strong communication skills in writing and oral presentation.
  • Capacity to work as part of a team and supervise junior colleagues.
  • Ability to lead manuscript preparation and communicate research outcomes.
  • Enthusiasm for lab research and ability to creatively address complex problems.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Expertise in biomolecule expression, isolation, and characterization.
  • Substantive expertise in structural, biophysical, or cell biological methods (e.g., NMR, x-ray crystallography, cryoEM/ET).
  • Experience in oral or poster presentations and scientific paper writing.
  • Experience in supervising graduate and undergraduate research projects.

Note: Candidates awaiting PhD award will be considered at Grade 5, spine point 30, with the title of Research Assistant. Upon confirmation of PhD award, the title will change to Research Associate with a salary increase to Grade 6.


Job Description:
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will independently manage day-to-day laboratory work, conducting original research using structural, biophysical, and/or cellular approaches. Responsibilities include setting and meeting research goals, collaborating with team members and collaborators, supervising junior lab members, disseminating research findings, and maintaining accurate documentation.
