Postdoctoral Research Associate: The Institute for Condensed Matter Physics and Complex Systems at the University of Edinburgh is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team. This role focuses on developing new numerical and analytical tools for the study of open quantum systems, emphasizing disorder in two-dimensional systems.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- A completed PhD in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Background in quantum simulation or condensed matter physics, with a publication record appropriate for career stage.
- Proven expertise in computational techniques for quantum simulation, including tensor networks and GPU acceleration libraries.
- Evidence of ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Experience in student supervision is advantageous but not essential.
Job Description:
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work under the supervision of Dr. Steven Thomson on an EPSRC funded project titled “Disorder in Open Quantum Systems.” The successful candidate will be involved in:
- Developing computational tools for studying thermalisation and equilibration in disordered quantum systems.
- Utilizing high-performance computing techniques and potentially benefitting from GPU acceleration.
- Exploring fundamental physics in novel parameter regimes relevant to contemporary quantum technologies.
This is a full-time position, fixed term for 36 months, with the prospect of funded research activities and publication opportunities.
