Eligibility/Qualification:
- Essential Criteria:
- PhD in a relevant subject area.
- Background in immunology, cell biology, or respiratory sciences.
- Experience with patient-derived samples and human biobank curation.
- Expertise in human cell culture, molecular biology, and advanced microscopy.
- Strong data analysis and record-keeping skills.
- Evidence of research outputs with excellent scientific writing and presentation abilities.
- Experience in collaborative and multidisciplinary team environments.
- Willingness to mentor team members.
- Desirable Criteria:
- Experience in 3D cell culture.
- Knowledge of flow cytometry.
- Experience with advanced sequencing technologies and omics analysis.
Job Description:
The postholder will engage in groundbreaking research focusing on early lung fibrosis mechanisms, utilizing advanced molecular biology, microscopy, and cell culture techniques. Collaborating with a vibrant interdisciplinary team, the applicant will be involved in characterizing lung disease mechanisms using human samples, spatial transcriptomics, and organoid co-culture models. The position requires excellent communication skills and may involve mentoring other team members.
Responsibilities:
- Handle tissue processing and generation of primary lung cells from bronchoscopy samples.
- Employ spatial transcriptomics to study cellular populations and functions.
- Develop organoid co-culture models using primary human epithelial cells.
- Collaborate with experts at the Royal Brompton Hospital for access to extensive human ILD samples.
