Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Computational Science, or related discipline (completed within the last five years).
- Strong record of research excellence as demonstrated by publications in top peer-reviewed journals.
- Experience in HPC, AI/ML, and/or distributed systems techniques.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or similar.
- Hands-on experience in scientific data management, workflows, and resource management problems.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with a collaborative attitude.
Job Description:
As a postdoctoral researcher at ORNL, you will:
- Design and implement system software for AI-readiness of scientific data.
- Collaborate on solutions to automate and optimize interactions between large simulations, data ingestion, and AI processes.
- Develop agentic AI systems to enhance model quality and resource optimization.
- Investigate performance and resilience strategies across heterogeneous computational resources.
- Validate algorithms at scale using ORNL’s computational resources, including the Frontier supercomputer.
- Communicate experimental results with domain experts and publish findings in peer-reviewed venues.
